Birmingham City

I have decided to become manager of a premier division side the main reason behind this is because i have good knowledge of the league and the clubs in it i kept going on random until a premier club came up it was Birmingham city a local team really to me and i think that it could be a good club to be manager of they have good players such as foster, dann, mcfadden, hleb larsson and prob a few more but they are not a European side (YET) i hope to achieve this in a 3 year plan the first year to get to know the team alot better and achieve a mid table position and try and keep hold of some prized assets i have also noticed that they have no major debt which is a good sign so i can buy players and not sell my best players. The club is an aging squad with people like boywer and fergerson but they are still valuable members of the team.

A FIRST LOOK

As the image shows the squad status of the squad 10 of them are wanted by different clubs, Kevin Phillips is injured and Gary o Connor is transfer listed i will have to see if i want to let o Connor go and if any of these players wanted want to leave hopefully not.

Here is a brief overview of what my assistant think are my squads strengths and weaknesses and sadly the ones i class as important seem to be the clubs weaknesses such as determination which i like alot at especially at a mid table club fitness is down so we might loose it in the last quarter of the game an old squad and poor youth facilities which i think could be a deadly combination long term for the club financially and in terms of the club moving forward but i still have good people coming through the youth academy which shows the potential the club has if we improve the academy.

the team expectations are as i said earlier to finish mid table and the board are certainly willing to splash the cash (GREAT) £15.5M but financially i can not buy a great player because of the wages i only have 25k to spend on wages unless i sell players so the major question who is taking up all the wages.

Hleb is the main culprit with his wage at 57k compared to the next best zigic at 36.5k i am going to keep hleb i would be foolish not to he is class and now its time to see what formation i am going to play this year.

a very common formation used now i think that someone like zigic can cause problems for defenders and hopefully the wingers will give him good support an attacking midfielder to help support the striker with though balls and have good shots from outside the box the two central midfielders i will use them to dictate the play against the smaller teams and to help the defenders out against tougher opponents and away from home and i have used a simple back four if I'm honest against the better teams i just want them to clear there lines no fancy stuff just good old fashioned defending.

TRANSFER PROSPECTS
I have decided instead of just showing you my completed transfers i will show you all the players i am currently looking at so you can see any players i couldn't manage to get and to maybe make aware players that could be the difference in your own football manager story.

Julien Faubert now alot of you may think why would he sign him well steven carr as well as getting older is one of the ten players that clubs want and one of the clubs is liverpool which is interesting especially when they have glen johnson well faubert has got solid stats and the ability to score screamers he has good stats in running so he can get forward and support the midfield or even the striker 26years old so good age and the main reason is that he is transfer listed at his club west ham.

seamus colman now i admit his stats are nothing to shout about but i think that his best stats are good for his position dribbling, tackling he also has good work rate and teamwork so he will work hard for the team which i think can help take Birmingham to the next level he is also young so could progress into a better player

Marc albrighton is becoming more well know of late for his class performances for Birmingham's rivals aston villa now alot of people will say no because he is villa but i need a natural winger who has pace good crossing young and good work rate he has all these and could hopefully support a player like zigic with good crosses into the box.

capdevilla is a very good and cheap left back i agree he is old but he is a Spanish international and has very solid stats if I'm honest I'm not sure if he would be willing to come because he is a regular at Villarreal and bigger clubs want him like Chelsea and juventus but stranger things have happened in football if he decides to swap sunny Spain for Birmingham.

capdevilla team mate Marcos senna i would love to sign to help stabilise the midfield again old but has good stats and works his socks of for the team amazingly he has great stamina so he can keep going which is great for a player of his own again though bigger clubs want him Chelsea are the favorites for his signature

now for an unknown player ruben yttergard jenssen is a CM who has great passing ability if i do sign him then i hope he will be like paul scholes for Manchester united good composure on the ball and can pick a pass he also adds flair to the team and again work rate and team work are good levels as well he is also cheap to buy.

END OF AUGUST REPORT

here is my transfer dealings in August Ive loaned colman for a year hopefully if he plays well i can sign him permanently they wanted over 7mill for me to sign him so i took the cheaper option and loaned him for the season so far he has looked solid at the back and has been good going forward lot of energy and pace which is what i expected from him hopefully he can keep it up. ruben yttergard jenssen has not yet played competitively yet as he was injured for a few weeks but in pre season he did make some killer passer to the wingers i got him for 2.8mill so not a bad fee really. My final signing was andy webster from rangers i wanted another decent center back for cheap i tried to sign david weater instead but rejected my bid (which was more than webster) no people left the club.My results were won one drew one lost one so not a bad start i was very disappointed with the loss which was against stoke at home so a game i wanted to win and expected to win we were the better team until i was down to 10men and they scored the first goal the draw was a good draw against man utd which was only down to an own goal by liam ridgwell and we looked quite solid the win was against west ham away hopefully it will get better as we gel more as a team.
